“It is difficult for this city to take US Oil’s proposal at face value. If this expansion is truly about clean fuels, then US Oil should have no problem supporting the planning commissions ban on new fossil fuel proposals. Right now, Tacoma has major decisions to make about its future. People in this city have made it clear: they do not want more dirty energy in their neighborhoods, polluting their community. Without assurances to the community this appears like nothing more than a back-door to expanding oil and gas in a city ready to transition to a more vibrant future.”
